DESCRIPTION

 
  1 Rainfall Pulse Input

The Rainfall Event Logger shall be equipped with minimum 1 nos of high speed Pulse Input for sensing rainfall event from tipping bucket type rain gauge. The pulse input shall accept ttipping bucket's reed switch momentary contact closure inputs where each contact closure or each tip shall correspond to 0.5mm of precipitation.

The Rainfall Event Logger pulse input shall be equipped with opto-isolation circuitry in order for connection in series or parallel to other data logger or telemetry equipment without loosing it's performance. The opto-isolated Pulse Input shall provide an isolation of at least 4kVAC/sec for surge protection.
 

   
2 Microcontroller Base CPU The Rainfall Event Logger shall employed an Industrial Standard Microcontroller Based System designed specially for low power consumption from a large, reputable manufacturer. Industrial Microcontroller shall be preferred over desktop PC microprocessors as they have a longer manufacturer support life span. The micro-controller used shall be available off-theshelve from Malaysia market.
 
 
3 Robust  Equipment Construction

The Rainfall Event Logger Rainfall Event Logger shall be constructed of solid state and compact component of the latest technology.

The Rainfall Event Logger Rainfall Event Logger's components and printed circuit boards is be tested and burnt-in in factory before supply. They shall be of rugged construction and shall be designed with adequate safety margin to withstand continuous service with a minimum of maintenance.

The Rainfall Event Logger shall be designed and constructed to give a minimum operational life of 10 years continuous service when operated on a 24 hours, 365 days per year basis. The manufacturer provide guarantee for spare parts availability for a period of ten (10) years. A guarantee certificate is attached in the tender submission.
 

 
4 Portable Data Retrieving Unit Logged data from the Rainfall Event Logger shall be able to be retrieved in the field by using a serial cable connecting one of the RS232 port of the logger to a Portable Data Retrieving unit or laptop running user friendly data retrieve software. Windows based data retrieval software for installation on laptop shall be supplied by the contractor. The data retrieved shall be saved in Micro-Tideda and Comma Separated Variable (CSV) file format.
 
 
5 Indicators The Rainfall Event Logger shall equipped with visual indicators for battery low, internal error, rainfall event record, rainfall event test input.
 
 
6 Self Test The Rainfall Event Logger shall be capable of performing self test when first powered On. If error is detected, visual indication shall be turned on to alert the relevant personal operating the event logger.
 
 
7 Warranty And Guarantee Unless otherwise stated to the contrary, all equipment supplied shall have warranty against Manufacturing Defects for a period of Twelve (12) Months, which shall take effect from the date after delivery to JPS store and accepted by the S.O. . Any part of the equipment that may become defective or does not perform according to the Specifications as offered within the warranty period shall be repaired or replaced free of charge. The warranty shall not cover repair and/or replacement of the logger due to vandalism or other damages due to natural disaster or “Act Of God”. The tenderer shall include the warranty statement from the manufacturer and shall also submit a guarantee on availability of the spares to be available in West Malaysia for the next ten (10) years after the expiry of the warranty period.
